Godly living
“For the grace of God that brings salvation, has appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying every ungodliness worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteous and godly in the present age; Looking for the Blessed hope and glorious appearance of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ.” Titus 2:11-13
In our text today, we reflect how the grace of God has changed us who have believed in Jesus Christ. The message of Christianity is all about Jesus Christ who is grace personified. We have been saved, only by grace and that is our Lord Jesus Christ. We examine the implications of this great grace in our lives:
Grace is the factor. While good works can not save any man nor can men be truly good to please God, grace is God’s free offer of all men to be saved. It has appeared to all men and as the writer notes, this grace brings salvation. All that man needs to do, is to believe and receive this grace.
That we are saved by grace is not an end in itself, but a means to live the way God desires of us. We are called to Godliness. Grace teaches us to say no to sin and be righteous in Christ. We are not to live sinful lives and take grace as License for sin, but by the enablement of grace, live Godly. We can not receive what is holy and live in it impurely.
As we live by this grace that has been granted to us, we look forward to our blessed and glorious hope which will be the Revelation of Jesus Christ at his coming. We shall finally be ushered into his Glorious Kingdom and reign with him!
This is what the grace of God has done, Praise God!
