The Unchanging God

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”

(James 1:17).

Our reflection today is on the constancy and unchangeable nature of God. In light of varying and changing life situations and times, sometimes we are tempted to think of a change on God’s part. Challenged with a situation, one may be made to think that probably God has changed for them to face such a challenge. However, the text above, gives us a promise that firstly God is the giver of all good and perfect gifts. Secondly that his nature is unchanging as we examine:

We often have said that “???????????? ???????? ???????????????? ???????????? ???????????? ????????????????, ???????????? ???????????? ???????????? ????????????????, ???????????? ???????? ????????????????.” Yet when faced with difficulties we may feel and think otherwise. But God is unchanged by circumstances, even in difficulties God will still show us his goodness. The fall of Man and nature of a fallen world brings us difficulties and bad times. But God still remains good to us.

????. ???????????? ???????? ???????????????????????????????? & ???????????????????????????????????????? (???????? ????????????).

The scripture says with God there is no variation nor shadow of turning. God is the same in his attributes. He does not change with or over time. His Love is steadfast daily, his mercies are new every morning. He is the same in his nature yesterday, today and forever.

This is contrasted with nature and the galaxy that undergoes constant and twenty four hour alternate changes such as day and night, where there is light on objects, shadows are cast, but when light is removed, the shadow is removed. But God is not like that, he is the same day and night.

With the changing times and situations, look to God the unchanging one. While change is constant for all of us, God remains the same!

You can trust God to do the great things he did many years ago, in your life today, because he is unchanging!
